Pipes industry

 

People consider that the first pipes were made in England in the end of 16th century. But as the attitude of the royal family was negative to smoking, producers of pipes immigrated to Holland. And pipes were made from the clay all over Europe at that time. They also had little cups that helped to save tobacco as it was extremely expensive at that time.

When the new suppliers of tobacco appeared the cups for pipes became bigger. And one of the most famous cities of the pipe production became the city Haudi.

The clay for their production was got to Holland from Germany and in 17th century this city had more than 500 workshops. Gradually their number decreased and only a few of then survived till nowadays. But the traditions of the tobacco production were left.

Later other countries of Europe started to make pipes. Russia, Germany, Poland become the world centres of pipe production. In Germany the porcelain pipes became famous while clay pipes were not so spread.

Nowadays there are a lot of plants on pipe production that offer a great number of pipes of different colours, forms, shapes and sizes. There are special pipes for all representatives of society.

But nowadays pipes are not so popular as they were before. But still there are people who keep traditions and smoke tobacco using pipes. Besides, pipes are very prestigious.
